Balancing Work and College

Whether it’s a minimum wage grunt job or a paid internship in your career field, juggling around work and education is the world’s most complicated balancing act.

Believe it or not, it’s possible to get your schedule intact without the use of an outrageous color coded schedule. So don’t fret and put down those highlighters and tabs.

Using these tips can help even the busiest of bees maintain a functional schedule.

Setting Deadlines

If you set a combination of mini deadlines for your school assignments and your work schedule. However the key to this is to make sure and fulfill these deadlines you set for yourself.

Make sure when you set these deadlines, that you set them at an appropriate time that works for you to ensure that you're getting your assignments and other commitments done in a timely fashion.

Avoid Busy Work and Remained Focused

While staying busy is certainly important, making sure that you stay focused on the important tasks at hand.

If you find your time being eaten up by meaningless projects, do not be afraid to trim the fat and put those projects aside. Cutting down on meaningless projects will help streamline your focus for both work and college.

As Ron Swanson from “Parks and Recreation” said, “Never half-ass two things. Whole ass one thing,”

Don’t Be Afraid To Say No

If your boss asks wants you to come in for an extra shift but you have a 50 point exam in two days, do not be afraid to say no. You are not a superhuman.

It’s okay to say “no” if you have other commitments.

And Above All… Don’t Forget To Relax

A fair amount of stress can be beneficial, motivating you to do your best. But too much stress can have adverse effects to both your mental and physical health. Some of these negative health effects include increased risk for heart disease, hair loss, and more.

Taking a moment to break away from the hectic whirlwind of life and just wind down.

Treat yo’self!

If none of these tips work for you, feel free to come up with your own. After all, no one knows you better

Happy Colleging!! xoxo
